KARACHI: More than 126,500 students from the Science and Home Economics groups are anticipated to take part in the first phase of Karachi’s annual intermediate exams for 2025, which will begin on Monday, May 5. Ghulam Hussain Sohoo, the chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), claims that all preparations have been completed to guarantee impartial and open exams.

The tests will be administered in both morning and evening sessions till Thursday, May 29. More than 34,500 General Science students will take their exams in the evening session (2pm to 5pm), while over 92,000 students from the Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, and Home Economics programs will show up in the morning session (9am to 12pm).

In Karachi, a total of 182 testing locations have been established, with 60 for evening and 122 for morning shifts. Thirty-six of these centers have been deemed extremely sensitive.

Under BIEK’s supervision, two central control rooms have been set up in the Karachi Commissioner’s Office to guarantee efficient monitoring and stop cheating. Additionally, each district’s Deputy Commissioners’ offices will include complaint cells manned by board officials.

The board has asked Sindh Emergency & Rescue Service 1122 for two ambulances for the central control room due to the anticipated heatwave during the exam time. Additionally, the Sindh Health Department has been requested to organize first aid camps and guarantee that ambulances and first aid supplies are available at every testing location.
