Dr. Tariq Khan Appointed Principal Information Officer, Bringing Wealth of Experience to Lead Press Information Department”
Islamabad: In a significant development, Dr. Tariq Mehmood Khan, a distinguished member of the Information Group and a seasoned professional in the field of media studies, has been officially appointed as the Principal Information Officer (PIO) of the Press Information Department within the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Dr. Tariq Khan, a Fulbright Scholar, brings a wealth of expertise to his new role, having previously held temporary charge as PIO. His impressive academic background includes a Ph.D. in Communication and Digital Media from North Carolina State University, where his research focused on ‘Reshaping Pakistan in the Context of Globalization, Mediatization, and Social Networks.’ Additionally, he holds a Master’s in Media Studies from The New School University in New York, achieved on a Fulbright Scholarship.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Tariq Khan has held key positions, including overseeing the Information Service Academy and serving as the Managing Director of the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). His experience extends to roles such as Executive Director General at the Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications and Director of ABC.
Having commenced his career as a Public Relations Officer (PRO), where he worked closely with notable figures such as Ghulam Mustafa Khar, Javed Jabbar, ND Khan, and the late Abdul Sattar Lalika, Dr. Tariq Khan brings a unique blend of administrative acumen and media expertise to his leadership role.
This appointment is poised to further elevate the standards of information dissemination and communication strategies within the Ministry, as Dr. Tariq Khan’s extensive experience and academic achievements position him as a dynamic leader capable of navigating the evolving landscape of media and information in Pakistan.
