US State Department Approves Appointment of Pakistan’s New Ambassador to Washington

ISLAMABAD – The United States State Department has officially approved the agrément for Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Washington, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh. The Foreign Office has received the agrément and has informed Ambassador-designate Sheikh of the approval.

Currently in Lahore for meetings with various businessmen and officials, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh is expected to hold discussions with the Prime Minister and President of Pakistan next week following the agrément’s approval. He is also scheduled to meet with federal ministers to receive instructions for his upcoming diplomatic assignment.

Sources indicate that Ambassador-designate Sheikh is likely to travel to the United States by the end of this month. Before his departure, he will receive briefings from top officials on Pakistan-US bilateral relations.

Rizwan Saeed Sheikh is a seasoned career diplomat with extensive experience, including serving as the Deputy Head of Mission at Pakistan’s Embassy in Washington.
