Could Muhammad Amir be staging a return to the national team

Former fast bowler Muhammad Amir has addressed the possibility of making a comeback to the national team. Speaking at a press conference with his ILT20 team ‘Desert Vipers’ this week, Amir provided insights into the current state of his cricket career.

“At this point, I had moved on; there were different things to do in my life, and now the chapter of my return to the national team is closed,” he stated.

Acknowledging the significant time gap of three years away from international cricket, Amir commented on the dynamic changes in Pakistan’s cricket system. He remarked, “If you look at Pakistan’s system now, it’s changing every month, so you never know what’s going to happen.”

Despite the extended period of absence from the national team, Amir firmly stated that the discussion of his return is closed for him. He emphasized, “I don’t think it would be a wise decision for me to come back. At least I don’t know what will happen in the next few years.”

Amir had retired from international cricket in 2020, attributing his decision to perceived injustices from head coach Misbah ul Haq and Waqar Younis.
