Punjab to support wheat farmers with Rs 100 billion interest-free loan scheme

In a landmark move for the farming sector, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has green-lit Rs 100 billion in interest-free loans to assist wheat growers before the upcoming sowing season.

The announcement came during a high-level meeting where the CM urged officials to develop a comprehensive plan to enhance wheat yields and reduce farmers’ expenses. She instructed departments to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fertilizers and introduce targeted subsidies for small-scale cultivators.

Under the scheme, farmers will receive loans before cultivation begins, enabling them to purchase essential inputs without the burden of interest. Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her government’s commitment to safeguarding Punjab’s agriculture, promising continued financial aid and logistical support for the province’s growers.
