Punjab Govt to Roll Out 1,100 E-Taxis with 30 Reserved for Women

Punjab is all set to introduce its first-ever E-Taxi Scheme 2025, promoting clean energy transport, safer travel for women, and new employment opportunities.

The government announced that 1,100 electric taxis will be distributed on interest-free loans, making it easier for young people to become self-employed. Dewan Motors will locally assemble the vehicles, boosting Pakistan’s electric vehicle manufacturing sector.

A dedicated fleet of 30 electric taxis will be allocated exclusively for women drivers, aiming to enhance safety and confidence for female commuters and drivers. The scheme also prioritizes persons with disabilities and rural communities to ensure equal benefits for all segments of society.

To make the project practical and sustainable, EV charging infrastructure will be developed across Punjab, ensuring easy access to power for electric taxi operators. Officials believe this eco-friendly initiative will reduce air pollution, lower transport costs, and create hundreds of jobs.

By launching the E-Taxi Scheme 2025, the Punjab government hopes to transform public transport into a greener, safer, and more inclusive system.
