PMDC sets record straight on MDCAT 2025 fee, says rise is 12.5% not 80%

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has moved to counter online misinformation regarding the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025.

Dismissing reports of an 80% fee hike, PMDC confirmed that the fee increase is just 12.5%, rising from Rs. 8,000 in 2024 to Rs. 9,000 this year. The Council stated that the change was proposed by test-conducting universities to cover rising expenses in printing, security arrangements, transport logistics, and examiner remuneration.

MDCAT 2025 will take place on October 5, with a uniform syllabus applicable nationwide. The exam will be paper-based and consist of 180 multiple-choice questions in five sections: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning.

Registration began on August 8 and will run until August 25, while late registrations will be accepted until September 1. All applications are to be submitted online, and the full syllabus is available on the PMDC website.
