PCB drops Haider Ali from Darwin T20 tour after Manchester police arrest

The Pakistan Cricket Board has suspended Haider Ali and withdrawn him from the Pakistan Shaheens squad after Greater Manchester Police confirmed his arrest over an alleged rape incident during the team’s England tour.

According to police, the complaint was filed on 4 August 2025 regarding an alleged offence on 23 July in Manchester. The cricketer has been bailed as investigations continue. The PCB said it will allow the legal process to run its course before taking further action, adding that Haider has been provided with legal support.

Haider, who has played 35 T20Is and two ODIs for Pakistan, will be replaced by Mohammad Faiq in the Shaheens lineup for the Top End T20 Series in Darwin from 14–24 August. Pacer Mohammad Wasim Jnr comes in for Salman Mirza, who was also excluded from the recent West Indies T20I series despite strong performances against Bangladesh.

The Shaheens, captained by Muhammad Irfan Khan, will face Bangladesh A in their tournament opener on 14 August at TIO Stadium.
