In a firm but diplomatic message, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir has urged the Afghan leadership to prevent India-backed terrorist networks from using Afghan territory as a base for operations against Pakistan.
Addressing young civil service officers during the 52nd Common Training Programme in Islamabad, Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful relations with Afghanistan, describing the country as a “brotherly Islamic neighbor.” However, he stressed that responsibility comes with that relationship.
“We ask only one thing: do not provide space to India’s terrorist proxies — Fitna al-Hind and Fitna al-Khawarij,” he said, warning that such groups pose a direct threat to regional peace.
The army chief also used the platform to reflect on national governance, underlining the importance of a capable and transparent civil bureaucracy. He noted that Pakistan’s progress hinges on institutional synergy and mutual trust between civilian and military institutions.
He further touched upon the evolving regional and internal security landscape, stating that the armed forces are steadfast in their mission to uphold sovereignty and ensure peace across the region. His message to the officers was clear: carry forward your duties with integrity, professionalism, and a deep sense of national pride.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, signaling an environment of open dialogue and collective responsibility for national development.
