iPhone 17 Pro to launch with 10 major upgrades including new design, cameras, and AI features

Apple is gearing up for its much-anticipated “Awe Dropping” event on September 9, where it will unveil the iPhone 17 lineup. While the spotlight may fall on the ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro series is also set to bring major updates in design, performance, and camera technology compared to last year’s iPhone 16 Pro.

Here are the 10 biggest changes expected in the iPhone 17 Pro:

  1. Redesigned rear panel – Apple is moving away from the all-glass back, introducing a hybrid aluminum-glass design. The MagSafe and Apple logo area will retain glass, while the rest will be aluminum, making the phone lighter and more durable.

  2. New camera bump – The square-shaped module is being replaced by a wide rectangular bar across the top. The triangular camera arrangement remains, but the flash and LiDAR sensor will shift positions.

  3. Slightly thicker body – At 8.725mm, the iPhone 17 Pro will be thicker than the iPhone 16 Pro. The extra space allows for a larger battery and improved thermal cooling for gaming and extended use.

  4. New color options – Alongside classic black, white, and gray, Apple is expected to introduce dark blue and a bold copper-orange finish.

  5. Upgraded display – While size and resolution stay the same, the new panel could include an anti-reflective coating, reducing glare in sunlight and offering better scratch resistance.

  6. A19 Pro chip – Powered by TSMC’s 3nm process, the new chip will focus on efficiency and sustained performance thanks to a vapor chamber cooling system.

  7. Increased RAM – Apple will reportedly upgrade RAM from 8GB to 12GB, enabling smoother multitasking and enhanced AI support.

  8. Larger battery + Qi 2.2 wireless charging – The iPhone 17 Pro could cross the 5,000 mAh battery mark, supporting 25W Qi 2.2 charging, matching MagSafe speeds.

  9. Camera upgrades – All three rear lenses may feature 48MP sensors, with the Pro Max variant offering up to 8x optical zoom. Improvements may also include 8K video, dual-camera video recording, and a 24MP front camera.

  10. AI features – Apple is expected to roll out its long-awaited AI tools, potentially powered by Google Gemini, ChatGPT, or Apple’s in-house model. These features could transform iPhone usability but details remain under wraps until launch.

The iPhone 17 Pro series clearly signals Apple’s push toward better durability, higher performance, advanced cameras, and deeper AI integration—bringing it closer to Android competitors in areas where Apple has been lagging.
