In response to the severe cold weather, Punjab has decided to prolong the adjusted school timings

The Punjab School Education Department has issued a notification, extending the winter timings in schools across the province until January 31st.

According to the announcement dated January 20, both public and private schools will continue to follow the extended winter timings until January 31, 2024, with regular timings resuming from February 1, 2024.

In response to the severe winter conditions, schools in the province will now commence at 9:30 am, as per the decision of the Punjab government. It’s noteworthy that, instead of extending winter holidays, the government opted for revised school timings.

In other updates, the provincial education department recently confirmed that the upcoming SSC (matric) exams will proceed as scheduled. Despite a request from the All Pakistan Private Schools Association (APPSA) to delay the exams by at least a month, officials decided against making any changes to the matric exams’ schedule. The decision was made with consideration for potential disruptions to the schedules of higher-level exams in the event of a delay in the SSC examinations.
