AIOU expands academic portfolio with BS E-Commerce, Psychology, and Political Science

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is broadening its academic landscape with the introduction of three new BS degree programs—E-Commerce, Psychology, and Political Science—aimed at providing greater academic diversity for students nationwide.

The approval came during a Faculty Board meeting led by Dean Dr. Abdul Aziz Sahir, where faculty members also agreed on updating study plans for various undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including MPhil and PhD degrees.

According to a press release, the meeting emphasized curriculum revisions to keep pace with evolving academic and industry requirements. Dr. Sahir assured that all programs would continue to meet HEC standards, while reaffirming the university’s dedication to delivering high-quality, inclusive education under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr. Nasir Mahmood.

The board also underscored the government’s directive to integrate Fahm-ul-Quran and Seerat-un-Nabi courses into all programs, with plans to introduce Pakistani language courses to celebrate cultural heritage.

In addition, Dr. Munir Khattak presented the Undergraduate Rules, Regulations, and Procedures (URRP) 2025, designed to benefit both distance learners and on-campus students. The proposals were unanimously approved and will soon be reviewed by the Academic Council and Executive Council.
