Rome — In a unique cultural collaboration, the Embassy of Pakistan in Italy teamed up with Rome’s top-rated gelato maker Frigidarium to launch Chaunsa Gelato at a public diplomacy event held in the iconic Piazza Navona. The initiative, part of Independence Day celebrations, showcased a fusion of Pakistani mangoes with Italian artisanal gelato craftsmanship. The festival will continue throughout the weekend.
Gelato maestro and Frigidarium proprietor Mr. Fabrizio praised the Chaunsa mango for its natural sweetness, smooth texture, and rich aroma. “Pakistani mango is excellent, excellent, excellent for making gelato,” he said, describing the fruit’s quality as outstanding.
Ambassador Ali Javed lauded the collaboration and highlighted Pakistan’s other premium produce, including thin-shelled almonds, freshly harvested walnuts, apricot seeds, and saffron from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also noted the country’s world-renowned long-grain pine nuts, cherished by culinary experts worldwide.
The ambassador further announced that Pakistan’s National Day in March, coinciding with the kinnow citrus season, would see the gifting of kinnows to Frigidarium for a future Kinnow Gelato launch. Fabrizio welcomed the idea, expressing enthusiasm to expand the creative boundaries of gelato-making.
The Chaunsa Gelato Festival drew a diverse audience, including diplomats, business leaders, government officials, and members of the Pakistani community. The event reinforced the Embassy’s commitment to showcasing Pakistan’s premium agricultural exports while engaging Italian society in celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day and Maarka-e-Haq.
