San Francisco: WhatsApp is rolling out a voicemail-like feature for missed calls in its Android beta version 2.25.23.21, according to WABetaInfo. The new update makes it easier for users to leave quick voice messages when a call goes unanswered.
Instead of just “Call again” or “Cancel,” users will now see a “Record voice message” button directly in the call menu. This allows them to send an instant audio note without returning to the chat screen. The same option will also appear in the recipient’s chat window, ensuring they can quickly access the message.
While WhatsApp has long offered voice notes via the mic icon, this change reduces friction by embedding the feature into the call interface. It’s designed to make conversations smoother, particularly when leaving urgent updates for contacts who couldn’t pick up.
Currently, the voicemail option is limited to selected beta testers on Android, with no official announcement from Meta on when it will be rolled out globally.
