ISLAMABAD – The U.S. Mission to Pakistan has officially welcomed Natalie A. Baker as the new Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad. Before her current role, Baker served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Doha, Qatar.
Baker brings extensive diplomatic experience, having held key positions such as Director of the Office of North African Affairs in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, and Deputy Chief of the U.S. Mission to Libya, where she played a crucial role in normalizing relations between the two countries. She also supported the U.S. military withdrawal from Iraq during her tenure as Economic Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait.

Her previous assignments include serving as Political and Economic Counselor in Libya, where she remained until the U.S. Embassy evacuation during the Libyan Revolution in 2011. Baker has also served as a Special Assistant in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, a Consular Officer in Islamabad, and a Cultural Officer in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Natalie Baker holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University, and is a 2017 Distinguished Graduate of the National War College at the National Defense University in the United States.
