Telecommunication services in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and several other flood-affected regions have suffered major disruptions after flash floods damaged key cellular and fixed-line sites.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that its field teams are actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with telecom operators to ensure urgent restoration. The authority said uninterrupted communication is crucial for both rescue teams and flood-hit residents relying on emergency support.
In Buner, PTA officials met with Federal Minister Ameer Muqaam, PTI Chairman Gohar Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kashif Qayum, and senior representatives of PTCL and mobile operators. The meeting reviewed progress on network recovery and addressed challenges in reconnecting remote areas.
PTA said it is working in close collaboration with federal and provincial governments, district administrations, and telecom companies to overcome technical hurdles. Operators are deploying additional resources to repair flood-hit sites and restore connectivity as fast as possible.
Officials assured that the restoration drive is being carried out on a war footing to minimise disruption, as communication networks remain the backbone of rescue and relief efforts in flood-stricken regions.
