Shoaib Malik achieved a groundbreaking milestone as the first Pakistani cricketer to hit 1000 fours in 482 innings of T20 cricket.

During the ongoing National T20 Cup match between Sialkot Region and Rawalpindi Region at the United Bank Limited (UBL) Sports Complex in Karachi, the 41-year-old right-handed batsman Shoaib Malik, renowned for representing Pakistan in 446 international matches, attained this remarkable feat.

His achievement places him as the eighth player in cricket history to reach this milestone, also securing a record of hitting 400 sixes in the T20 format, marking him as the sole Pakistani player to do so.

Shoaib Malik additionally holds the distinction of being the first Pakistani batsman to accumulate 5000 T20 runs in Pakistan, achieving a total of 5068 runs at an impressive average of 46.93 and a strike rate of 135, including 42 half-centuries in 156 innings.

Expressing his ambition to surpass Chris Gayle’s record of most runs in T20 cricket, Shoaib Malik remains 1719 runs away from making history, with his current tally standing at 12,843 runs in 482 innings, while Gayle holds 14,562 runs in 455 innings. Given Malik’s dedicated fitness regimen over the years, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if he prolongs his tenure in the shortest format of the game, potentially breaking Gayle’s record in the years to come.
