Restaurant on Murree Expressway sealed over expired food and filthy conditions

Murree – A restaurant situated on Murree Expressway near Phulgran has been sealed by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) for serving expired food items, including meat, and operating in unhygienic conditions.

During an inspection, the PFA Murree team found serious violations, including expired meat and a general lack of cleanliness. The team also noted the presence of large quantities of red betel nuts, raising further food safety concerns.

The authority responded by closing the restaurant on the spot and imposing a Rs. 50,000 fine.

A PFA spokesperson said the action was part of an ongoing campaign under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s directives to ensure food quality in the region, especially for the tourists flocking to Murree.

Citizens have been encouraged to play their part by reporting food safety issues through the PFA helpline 1223.
