Punjab greenlights Rs. 15.76 billion road, zoo, and wildlife projects

Lahore — In a major development push, the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved Rs. 15.76 billion worth of schemes in its 20th meeting of the fiscal year, focusing on road infrastructure, wildlife conservation, and tourism projects.

The approved projects include:

  • Wildlife Department strengthening and capacity building — Rs. 3.63 billion

  • Bahawalpur Zoo revamp and experience development — Rs. 3.47 billion

  • Additional Ring Road from Bahawalpur Railway Station to Bino Hospital — Rs. 1.62 billion

  • Rehabilitation of Sahiwal–Pakpattan Road — Rs. 4.51 billion

  • Rehabilitation of Sammundri–Sahiwal Road — Rs. 2.45 billion

  • Feasibility study for Lakot–Pindi Point chairlift and cable car (Murree) — Rs. 50 million

Chairing the meeting, Dr. Naeem Rauf, Chairman P&D Board Punjab, said these initiatives will improve connectivity, boost eco-tourism, and support wildlife preservation. He added that the projects highlight the government’s resolve to balance infrastructure growth with environmental protection.

Senior officials, including P&D Board Secretary Rafaqat Ali and Chief Economist Masood Anwar, were also present at the session.
