The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken decisive action against cyber fraud, confirming that 13,185 scam-related URLs have been removed this year following user complaints.
The move targets fraudulent schemes spread via major social platforms. According to PTA’s July 21 report, Facebook, YouTube, X, and Instagram responded to nearly 99% of its takedown requests. Facebook deleted 1,246 out of 1,357 flagged URLs, while YouTube blocked 99 of 122, with eight more cases still under review.
The authority said its cooperation with these platforms has been crucial in removing harmful content quickly, protecting Pakistani users from online scams and electronic fraud.
PTA also issued a public advisory urging internet users to remain cautious, avoid interacting with suspicious content, and immediately report any fraudulent activity.
