Pakistan’s Youth Vows to Join Ethiopia in 600 Million Tree Plantation Campaign Under Green Legacy Initiative

Islamabad: Pakistan’s youth has vowed to support Ethiopia in its monumental “600 Million Tree Plantation Campaign” under the Green Legacy Initiative, as H.E. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Pakistan, addressed the COP-in-my-City 2024 Conference virtually on Thursday.

During his address, Ambassador Beker briefed the youth about the Green Legacy Initiative, spearheaded by Ethiopia’s Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali. He informed the participants that tomorrow, the people of Ethiopia, under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, are set to create a world record by planting 600 million trees in a single day.

The Ambassador highlighted that the Green Legacy Initiative, rooted in the Medemer philosophy of H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, emphasizes the synergy of human and financial resources to foster robust, green, and sustainable development across Ethiopia. He further explained how the initiative has not only expanded Ethiopia’s green cover but has also contributed to food security and job creation in the country.

Inspired by Ethiopia’s ambitious environmental efforts, the youth of Pakistan expressed their admiration for the Green Legacy Initiative and committed to actively participating in the 600 million tree plantation campaign, showing solidarity with Ethiopia’s environmental goals.
