New York witnessed a vibrant celebration of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, organized by the Pakistan American Society USA. The event brought together a large number of community members, delegations from various states, and distinguished guests.
Shams-ul-Zaman, President of the Pakistan American Society USA, congratulated overseas Pakistanis on the occasion. He said the recent “Battle of Truth” victory had elevated the nation’s pride worldwide, crediting Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, for his bold leadership. He praised the armed forces for their readiness to defend the homeland on every front and reaffirmed that overseas Pakistanis stand firmly alongside their motherland. His address concluded with resounding chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Pak Army Zindabad.”
Pakistan’s Deputy Consul General in New York, Umer Sheikh, also congratulated the community, describing the “Operation Bunyān al-Marsūs” victory as a historic moment showcasing the bravery, professionalism, and resilience of the armed forces and the nation. He paid tribute to the martyrs and veterans, emphasizing that peace, stability, and national unity remain Pakistan’s top priorities.
General Secretary Dr. Ashraf highlighted that love for the homeland is the greatest asset of overseas Pakistanis, giving them strength to overcome challenges. He pledged that they will remain united for Pakistan’s dignity, integrity, and prosperity.
Other notable speakers included Chief Coordinator Syed Asif, Senior Vice President Suleman Butt, Vice President Shehzad Anwar, and community leader Professor Saqlain Malik. Young girls also performed national songs and delivered speeches, receiving enthusiastic applause.
The event concluded with shield presentations to guests, a special prayer for Pakistan’s peace and prosperity, and loud chants of “Pakistan Zindabad.”
