Masazir Lake:
Masazir Lake stands as an awe-inspiring natural spectacle. It is recognized as one of the rare pink lakes globally, its hue varying based on seasonal changes, time of day, and weather conditions.
Out of the nine pink lakes worldwide, eight are salt lakes, and one, with fresh water, is situated in Canada. Masazir’s reddish coloration results from its high concentrations of chloride and sulfate.
This natural wonder is situated approximately 20 kilometers away from Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku.
Salt extraction from the reservoir has been ongoing since 1813, with reserves estimated at around 1,735 million tons.
Historically, the lake was utilized for health-related purposes, offering mud baths that were believed to assist in treating bronchitis, nervous system disorders, as well as skin and joint diseases.
The optimal time to visit Masazir is early in the morning when the initial sunlight imparts a soft pink hue to the lake waters.
Goygol Lake:
Goygol Lake, often dubbed the “Blue Beauty,” remains a captivating natural wonder that never fails to mesmerize all who visit.
Also recognized as the “Blue Beauty,” the lake came into existence following an earthquake in the Middle Ages that resulted in the collapse of a mountain, obstructing the river’s path.
The diverted flow of water formed a lake fed by pure mountain water atop the Caucasus Mountains. The lake’s shores are adorned with forests and abundant flora and fauna.
Over 423 species of trees, shrubs, and medicinal plants thrive in this area. The surrounding forests are habitats for wildlife such as wolves, foxes, deer, jackals, bears, lynx, and various other animals.
