As part of an ongoing military exercise to evaluate operational readiness and technological capabilities, Pakistan successfully launched a training launch of its surface-to-surface Abdali weapon system on Saturday, according to the military.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the missile was launched as part of the operational preparedness exercise code-named “Indus” and has a 450-kilometer range.
Senior authorities from Pakistan’s strategic scientific community, the Strategic Plans Division, and the Army Strategic Forces Command saw the launch.
The purpose of the test was to verify the system’s improved maneuverability and navigation technologies.
ISPR claims that the missile system met all mission goals with its accurate targeting and steady flying performance.
The leaders of Pakistan’s military forces, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee congratulated the participants.
They commended the technical know-how of the scientists and engineers who worked on the project and conveyed complete faith in the nation’s strategic deterrence capabilities.
A vital part of Pakistan’s conventional and strategic arsenal, the Abdali missile system is built for quick deployment and excellent accuracy against ground targets.
