Barcelona – On August 14, 2025, Pakistan’s Independence Day was celebrated with a dignified ceremony at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Barcelona. The event was attended not only by members of the Pakistani community but also by local Spanish citizens.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. The Consul General then performed the flag-hoisting ceremony. During the flag hoisting, all participants paid tribute to Pakistan’s national flag and renewed their pledge of loyalty to the country. A patriotic song by a Pakistani artist in Spain added to the festive spirit. Messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out.
Tribute was paid to Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, and a documentary was shown featuring scenes of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force giving a strong response to India. The hall echoed with chants of Pakistan Zindabad (Long live Pakistan). Heartfelt tribute was paid to the martyrs of the battle for truth, and prayers were offered for the recovery of the injured.
In his address, Pakistan’s Consul General in Spain, Murad Ali Wazir, highlighted the importance of Independence Day, saying that August 14 reminds us of the day when the Muslims of the subcontinent turned their dream of an independent state into reality. He called overseas Pakistanis ambassadors of the nation, praising their hard work and honesty for bringing pride to Pakistan’s name.
The event was attended by Pakistanis from various walks of life, including businessmen, students, women, youth, and community leaders. Local Spanish guests also appreciated Pakistani culture, hospitality, and the spirit of patriotism.
The ceremony concluded with guests being served traditional Pakistani cuisine. Patriotic songs and children’s performances made the event truly memorable. The celebration was not only a tribute to Pakistan’s Independence Day but also a beautiful effort to further strengthen the friendly relations between Pakistan and Spain.
