Pakistan Engineering Council’s e-Gateway system has been launched

PEC E-GATEWAY Launching Ceremony held on 8th March’23, at Islamabad. One of the remarkable e-procurement platform launched first time in Pakistan by  PEC to export engineering services internationally. The event was graced by renowned Engineers, diplomats and appraised by Senator, Engr. Rukhsana Zuberi as Chief Guest and Guest of Honor Eric Hahn form European Union.

PEC E-Gateway is one of the important initiatives by the Council committee PPDC – Pakistan Development Committee, working towards creating opportunities and providing resources for engineers across the borders. E-Gateway provides a one-window solution for international companies to engage qualified and registered Pakistani engineers and firms for their business needs. It also offers a new avenue for business development and export the talent of Pakistani engineers. The Washington Accord paved the way for Pakistani engineers to be recognized as professionally accredited and provide their services in member countries and PEC E-gateway is a step in the direction of this growth. PEC E- Gateway is being launched with a focused objective of promoting local engineering talent in international market through coordinated efforts of overseas engineers for minimizing brain drain at national level.

Engr Mir Masood Rashid advisor to chairman PEC and convenor PPDC welcomed all valuable guests from academia, industries, and diplomats. He highlighted on the business need of such platform launch considering economical challenges of Pakistan. “PEC E- Gateway” e-procurement platform is offering services of professional and competent Engineers, who are eligible for giving consultancy and economical business solutions that will be commercially viable and practical.

Engr Lt General Moazzam (Retd) rector NUTECH university,appreciated the efforts of PEC and PPDC committee on such a great launch of door which is taking Engineering community into next future Era. Biggest current challenge is Jobs for the engineers and such initiatives will bridge the gap that has been created in market. He appreciated other initiatives of PPDC especially the CAPSTONE EXPO bringing motivation to engineering community to work on commercially viable projects.

Senator Engr Rukhsana Zuberichief guest of the ceremonyhighlighted this change step in the engineering and industry market, by creating a linking hub, utilizing IT industry evolving opportunity in the best way. Currently, Pakistan is with such challenges due to lack in Engineering role in the industry and economy which they can play if such more platforms provided. Its constitutional act to work as a think tank engineering community for Pakistan. She asked all stakeholders to contribute to this platform to make it success. Energy sector is lagging, and private sector input is a must to get the challenges addressed. She Emphasized over the importance of innovation and collaboration in driving Pakistan forward and the significance of reaching for export of Engineering Services. She further appraised PEC as a catalyst institute to work on the sustainability of industry in Pakistan by strengthening Engineering Community and launching E-Procurement system of local Engineering Consulting for export of services.

Engr Muhammad Najeeb Haroon Chairman PEChighlighted on the PEC existence as per the constitutional act to play role as the think tank brain for Pakistan. Current economic crises are due to the lack of role by respective stakeholders especially the engineer’s role who are backbone in building up of any economy. Its responsibility of stakeholders to give platform where engineer’s responsibility may be exercised being front line think tank soldiers. Out of the box solutions, innovation and reverse engineering is the need of time for Pakistan to pull out the country from such economic crises. We need two core jobs to be done at priority, first is the foreign exchange earning and second is the reduction of imports by industry localization. This platform is one of the steps towards it but more steps to take with the direction set.
