In a major step to improve public access to registration services, Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced on Friday that NADRA counters will soon be established in all union councils of Karachi. The announcement came during the inauguration of the newly upgraded NADRA registration centre at Babar Market in Landhi.
Mayor Wahab further revealed that a feasibility study will immediately be conducted for a new NADRA centre at Kakri Ground, Lyari, while construction of large-scale mega centres is already underway in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulberg, and Surjani Town.
The modernized Landhi centre has been upgraded from four to seven single-window counters, enabling faster processing and accommodating up to 120 visitors at a time. Facilities now include separate restrooms for men and women, wheelchair access, and drinking water.
Amir Ali Khan, NADRA’s Director General for Sindh, highlighted that five centres in Karachi have already been refurbished, with 21 upgrades planned across the city. He also acknowledged that while some users initially faced challenges with the new NADRA mobile app, it is expected to provide long-term efficiency and reliability once fully optimized.
The initiative aims to bring registration services closer to residents, reducing congestion at existing centres and improving citizen convenience across Karachi.
