The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has officially scrapped Right-of-Way (ROW) fees for IT and related infrastructure projects, including fiberization, in a move set to boost Pakistan’s internet connectivity.
The decision, announced through an official notification, was taken on the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima celebrated the announcement, calling it a “game changer” for Pakistan’s broadband industry. “No more barriers to internet expansion! CDA has removed ROW charges, and next, major federal entities will follow. The portal is already in place,” she shared on X.
Telecom stakeholders say the policy change will pave the way for faster deployment of high-speed internet infrastructure in Islamabad, fostering innovation and bridging the digital divide.
