Internet down across Pakistan as upstream fault disrupts PTCL, Nayatel services

ISLAMABAD – Widespread internet disruptions struck Pakistan on Tuesday after an upstream provider responsible for international internet traffic suffered a technical fault.

Leading internet service providers, including PTCL and Nayatel, confirmed that customers were facing service interruptions ranging from slow speeds to complete disconnections. Nayatel said the issue originated in its upstream network partner, which carries internet data into the country.

Reports suggest that recent flooding and heavy rainfall may have contributed to the outage. The disruption was reflected on DownDetector, where thousands of users complained of difficulties accessing websites, streaming services, and social media platforms.

Service providers have acknowledged the issue but have yet to provide a restoration timeline. Teams are working with upstream carriers to identify the fault and restore connectivity as quickly as possible.
