Honda Atlas ships first batch of locally made cars to Japan, eyes global market expansion

In a significant step for Pakistan’s auto sector, Honda Atlas Cars (Pakistan) Limited has successfully exported its first shipment of 38 Honda City units to Japan. This marks the company’s initial move into the international automotive export market, signaling new opportunities for locally assembled vehicles.

The development highlights the growing potential of Pakistan’s manufacturing capabilities. Alongside this milestone, Honda Atlas reported a 42% revenue increase for the financial year MY25, with earnings rising to Rs78 billion. The surge was supported by a 53% increase in domestic car sales, demonstrating strong consumer demand.

Despite this success, the company underscored the challenges of scaling exports, citing high production costs and limited policy support as major barriers to competing globally.

Still, the first successful export to Japan serves as a proof of concept and could pave the way for more opportunities in the future, both for Honda and the broader Pakistani automotive industry.
