HEC Announces Commonwealth Scholarships for PhD Students

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced the Commonwealth PhD Scholarships to study in the United Kingdom for the fall of 2021. The program is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and is being offered to Pakistani and AJK nationals.
The purpose of the scholarships is to contribute to the developmental needs of the Commonwealth countries by enhancing research and improving individual teaching skills that will lead to an increase in institutional capacity in academia and other sectors.

The scholarships are offered under six development themes including Science and Technology for Development, Strengthening Health Systems and Capacity, Promoting Global Prosperity, Strengthening Global Peace, Security, and Governance, Strengthening Resilience and Response to Crises, and Access, Inclusion, and Opportunity.

The scholarship covers the tuition fee and the approved airfare from the home country to the UK, stipend, a paid mid-term visit, and study travel grants. The last date to apply for the scholarship is 18 January 2021.

Duration of the Programme
The duration of the scholarship program is Four years for PhD starting from Fall 2021.
