Punjab Government to Launch Laptop Scheme for Students, Allocates Over Rs 125 Billion Annually for Education

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a significant educational initiative by the Punjab government, which includes the launch of a new Laptop Scheme and an annual allocation of over Rs 125 billion to cover the educational expenses of 25,000 students. This move is part of a broader effort to enhance educational support and resources across the province.

During a recent meeting with the Education Department, CM Maryam highlighted the importance of recognizing top-performing students and their teachers across all education boards in Punjab. This recognition aims to celebrate academic achievements and motivate continued excellence.

The newly approved Laptop Scheme is expected to provide students with essential technology to support their studies, helping to bridge the digital divide and improve learning outcomes. This scheme, along with the Students Scholarship Programme, represents a substantial investment in student success and educational equity.

In addition to the Laptop Scheme, CM Maryam announced the initiation of a transport program for female students, which will provide buses to 60 girls’ colleges in Punjab during the first phase. This program aims to address transportation barriers and increase educational access for young women.

CM Maryam also called for the immediate establishment of IT hubs in all districts of Punjab, enhancing digital infrastructure and technology access for students.

The meeting, which was attended by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Zafar Dal, and Secretary Higher Education Dr. Farrukh Naveed, demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing educational resources and support throughout Punjab.
