A new chapter in Pakistan’s healthcare system is about to unfold as the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Project for Islamabad at a massive cost of Rs. 212 billion.
The project, approved under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, will establish a state-of-the-art tertiary hospital with fully integrated surgical, medical, and research facilities.
Officials said the mega hospital will not only cater to patients in Islamabad but also provide advanced healthcare services to people across Pakistan, easing the burden on existing hospitals.
ECNEC directed the creation of a dedicated committee to ensure proper financing and timely execution of the project.
The high-level meeting was attended by federal and provincial ministers, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, and senior representatives from Planning, Finance, Health, and the Economic Affairs Division.
