Google has officially locked August 20 as the date for its upcoming hardware showcase, where it will unveil the Pixel 10 series alongside new wearables and audio accessories.
The smartphone lineup will include Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Complementing the phones, Google is also expected to debut the Pixel Watch 4 and possibly the Pixel Buds 2a, a refresh to its budget-friendly earbuds.
First TSMC-built Tensor chip
The entire Pixel 10 range will feature the Tensor G5 system-on-chip, marking Google’s transition away from Samsung fabrication to TSMC. This move is anticipated to deliver cooler thermals, better power efficiency, and more stable performance, a major improvement over the Tensor G3 found in the Pixel 9.
Camera and ecosystem refinements
Beyond the silicon upgrade, the Pixel 10 promises enhanced macro photography capabilities for ultrawide and telephoto lenses. A new Pixelsnap magnetic accessory system will also be introduced—though unlike Apple’s MagSafe, the magnets won’t be in the device itself but in specially designed cases.
Learning from Pixel 9 feedback
The Pixel 9 series, released in 2024, was praised for its clean Android experience and AI camera smarts but criticized for thermal inefficiency and lackluster performance gains. Battery life under heavy workloads was also a weak spot. The Pixel 10 is expected to directly address these issues.
While earlier rumors suggested an August 13 launch, the confirmed August 20 date aligns with credible leaks, showing once again that Pixel-related timelines are rarely far off the mark.
