ISLAMABAD, August 29 – Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, visited multiple flood-affected districts in Punjab, including Sialkot, Shakargarh, Narowal, and Kartarpur, to review ongoing relief operations and express solidarity with victims.
During his visit, the Army Chief conducted an aerial survey of Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, assessing the extent of flood damage. He was also briefed on relief measures, rescue operations, and preparedness for the possibility of further heavy rainfall in the coming days.
In a meeting with the Sikh community in Sialkot, Field Marshal Munir assured that the state would give priority to the restoration of all religious and heritage sites affected by the floods. He reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to protecting the rights, heritage, and places of worship of minority communities.
Highlighting the joint efforts of civil and military institutions, he commended the tireless work of rescue teams operating under extremely difficult conditions. Their coordinated planning and swift response, he said, had played a key role in saving lives and minimizing losses.
The Army Chief praised the dedication and courage of the personnel involved, noting that collective action and institutional cooperation were crucial in overcoming challenges posed by natural disasters.
