Ex-minister refuses to attend British King’s Day event due to the situation in Gaza

In Islamabad, the former Punjab health minister, Khawja Imran Nazeer, has decided to boycott the British King Charles birthday ceremony in protest of the world community’s silence regarding the dire situation in Gaza. Imran Nazeer expressed deep concern over the Israeli forces’ unleashing of violence upon innocent children, men, and women in Gaza.

In a letter addressed to Jane Marriott, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, dated November 14, 2023, Imran Nazeer conveyed his regrets, stating, “I regret to inform you that due to the ongoing crisis in Gaza, where more than 8,000 children and thousands of innocent Palestinians have lost their lives, I will not be able to attend the ceremony. The targeted attacks on hospitals and refugee camps are particularly brutal.”

He further highlighted that around a hundred innocent protestors who stood against the Israeli atrocities were recently arrested in London. Imran Nazeer expressed astonishment at the profound silence of major advocates for human rights, including Great Britain, regarding this pressing issue.
