ISLAMABAD – Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, the Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of Ethiopia, underscored the vital role of Ethiopian youth in driving green economic development during a high-level meeting in Islamabad.
The Ambassador met Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, on the sidelines of a commemoration ceremony organized by HRD Network (HRDN), celebrating achievements of the Youth Engagement and Resilience Initiative.
Youth at the Heart of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy
Ambassador Dr. Jemal briefed the Governor on Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative, a flagship environmental project launched by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, aimed at tackling climate change and fostering sustainable growth.
He highlighted how Ethiopian youth have taken a proactive role in tree planting, renewable energy adoption, and climate-smart agriculture, making them key drivers of the country’s transition to a green economy.
Strengthening Ethiopia-Pakistan Relations
Both leaders agreed to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, focusing on youth empowerment, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
Governor Kundi lauded Ethiopia’s efforts in engaging young people for climate action and emphasized that Pakistan also sees youth as a critical force for social and environmental change.
The event concluded with a shared vision to enhance collaboration between Ethiopia and Pakistan, particularly in green initiatives, knowledge exchange, and people-to-people linkages.
