Ethiopia vows support for Pakistan in climate fight, Ambassador meets President Zardari

ISLAMABAD – Ethiopia has stood in solidarity with Pakistan, extending support in its battle against climate change and natural disasters. On Tuesday, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Ethiopia’s Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary, met President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The Ambassador conveyed deep condolences over the devastation caused by flash floods in Pakistan, noting that Pakistan remains one of the lowest contributors to global carbon emissions yet continues to suffer heavily from climate-related disasters. He said Ethiopia would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan in its climate resilience efforts.

President Zardari thanked Ethiopia for its expression of solidarity and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with African nations under the “Look Africa and Engage Africa” initiative. He said Pakistan values its partnership with Ethiopia in diverse fields including trade, investment, aviation, technology, culture, tourism, peace, and security.

He also commended Ethiopia for its leading role in Africa’s regional integration efforts and its global advocacy for climate action, describing it as an important ally in shaping a sustainable future.
