Beijing Hails Pakistan Army’s Role in Regional Stability as COAS Asim Munir Strengthens Defence Ties

China has reaffirmed its confidence in the Pakistan Army’s role as a vital contributor to regional peace and a trusted security partner during Field Marshal Asim Munir’s official visit to Beijing.

The Chief of Army Staff met with senior Chinese officials, including Vice President Han Zheng, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and top military leadership led by General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC).

The talks covered regional and global security, counterterrorism strategies, military modernisation, and enhanced cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

China praised Pakistan for its resolute efforts to combat terrorism and stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens, projects, and investments in Pakistan. Wang Yi said the Pakistani military has been a staunch defender of national interests and a strong pillar of China-Pakistan friendship.

Munir assured Beijing that Pakistan will continue taking all necessary measures to protect Chinese personnel and projects while enhancing joint counterterrorism operations.

At PLA Headquarters, the COAS received a guard of honour, reflecting the strong military camaraderie between the two nations.

Both sides agreed to expand joint military training, improve operational coordination, and enhance interoperability to address evolving hybrid threats and regional challenges.

The ISPR said the visit highlights the deepening politico-military relationship between Pakistan and China, showcasing their shared resolve to strengthen peace and stability in South Asia through long-term strategic engagement.
