Bad weather forces Gilgit airport closure, delays 46 flights across Pakistan

Operations at Gilgit Airport were completely halted today as severe weather disrupted air travel, leading to cancellations and delays.

Four flights from Islamabad to Gilgit were canceled, while nationwide flight operations faced delays totaling 46 flights. The affected domestic flights included 11 from Islamabad, 12 from Karachi, 11 from Lahore, three from Quetta, and one each from Multan, Skardu, and Peshawar.

International flights were also impacted. A private airline’s Islamabad-Dubai flight was delayed by five hours. Meanwhile, two flights from Lahore to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi faced delays ranging from four to ten hours. A foreign airline operating Muscat to Karachi also experienced a delay of four and a half hours.

Airlines are advising travelers to monitor schedules closely as operations gradually return to normal.
