Gwadar: On November 3, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Balochistan’s Gwadar district, where at least 14 soldiers of the Pakistan Army were martyred during an ambush. The soldiers were part of a convoy moving from Pasni to Ormara. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement confirming the incident, stating that two vehicles belonging to the security forces were targeted by terrorists.
In response to this heinous act, the military has launched a sanitization operation in the area and is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. The ISPR emphasized that the security forces of Pakistan remain resolute in their commitment to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country, and the sacrifices of these brave soldiers only strengthen their resolve.
This tragic incident is another reminder of the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan. In late September, a suicide bomber targeted an Eid Miladun Nabi procession in the remote Mastung district, resulting in the loss of at least 60 lives, including a policeman, and injuring 60 others. The attack occurred during the preparations for Friday prayers and celebrations of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth anniversary.
Furthermore, in July, another attack occurred in northern Balochistan when terrorists targeted the Zhob Garrison, leading to the martyrdom of at least 12 security personnel. Nine troops embraced martyrdom while thwarting a terrorist attack on the Zhob Garrison, and three more soldiers lost their lives in another attack in the Sui district, as reported by the ISPR.
