Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker meets French envoy to boost bilateral cooperation

In a warm diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening ties, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan, called on French Ambassador H.E. Nicolas Galey to discuss avenues of deeper cooperation across bilateral, regional, and multilateral platforms.

During the meeting, the two diplomats exchanged views on growing collaboration in trade, investment, aviation, energy, climate change, health, and education — emphasizing the need to further build on the already strong relations between Ethiopia and France.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal expressed appreciation to the French government and people for their consistent support to Ethiopia, both bilaterally and at global forums. He also shared updates on the sweeping political, economic, legal, and social reforms initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, aimed at transforming Ethiopia into a more resilient and inclusive nation.

A key highlight of the discussion was Ethiopia’s #GreenLegacy Initiative, which has planted billions of trees across the country, contributing to environmental preservation, food security, and job creation. Ambassador Dr. Jemal emphasized how the initiative reflects Ethiopia’s broader commitment to sustainable development.

The French Ambassador welcomed the progress Ethiopia has made under its homegrown economic reforms, acknowledging the success of the Green Legacy Initiative. He reaffirmed France’s commitment to further strengthening its partnership with Ethiopia on both bilateral and multilateral fronts.

Both sides agreed to continue working together to explore new areas of cooperation and deepen existing ones — reinforcing a shared vision of progress, sustainability, and global engagement.
