Ali Jaber Elected President, Asghar Hayat General Secretary of Environment Journalists Forum

Islamabad: The Climate Journalist Forum has elected its new leadership, bringing together climate journalists from print, electronic, news agencies, and digital media to cast their votes, both in-person and online via Zoom, ensuring broad participation. Ali Jabir from APP has been elected as President, with Rozina Ali from 24 News as Senior Vice President, Saadullah Saeed from Public Purview as Vice President Male, Ayesha Naz from GTV as Vice President Female, and Asghar Hayat from GNN as General Secretary. The leadership team also includes Sohail Butt from Asian Telegraph as Joint Secretary, Fouzia Ali from Dunya News as Finance Secretary, and Mukhtar Ahmed from NNI as Information Secretary. Amina Janjua from Neo News, Saqib Rathore from Digital Media, and Aftab Jahan from News One TV will serve as members of the Governing Body.

The Forum emphasized gender balance and diversity in its leadership, ensuring significant representation for female journalists in key roles. The newly elected officials are expected to guide the forum in providing climate journalists with enhanced training, improved resources, and more opportunities for climate-related reporting and media coverage.

This leadership aims to strengthen climate awareness through journalism and enhance the role of media in addressing environmental challenges. The forum will focus on building the capacity of climate journalists, including organizing field visits to provide more comprehensive coverage of pressing environmental issues. Members have expressed satisfaction with the election process and are anticipating positive changes under the new leadership.
