PSB launches verification drive for grassroots sports clubs and associations across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has directed all national sports federations to submit verified details of their clubs and associations down to the village and town level within the next two weeks, in a bid to bring transparency and accountability to the country’s sports governance.

The initiative, led by DG PSB Yasir Pirzada, is part of a broader reform agenda aimed at ending the culture of “paper-based” federations and building a credible structure rooted in documentation and grassroots representation.

Federations have been instructed to provide complete lists of their clubs, tehsil, district, divisional, and provincial associations. Each entry must include the names and contact details of presidents and secretaries as well as the dates of their last elections. Failure to submit within 15 days could result in the PSB presuming that a federation is non-functional at the grassroots level.

The PSB intends to compile this information into a public database, enabling athletes, parents, and policymakers to identify which associations are genuinely active. According to sports observers, the drive has the potential to expose hollow setups while giving stronger recognition to functional clubs that serve as nurseries for young talent.

If implemented fully, the reforms are expected to reshape Pakistan’s sports landscape, where grassroots development has often been overshadowed by administrative disputes and lack of transparency.
