Ethiopian delegation arrives in Pakistan to launch ‘Plant Fraternity’ green initiative

KARACHI – A high-level delegation of Ethiopian government officials and climate experts landed in Karachi on Friday to officially launch the “Plant Fraternity” initiative in Pakistan. The program will take place across Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore in the coming days.

The delegation was warmly received at Jinnah International Airport by H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) to Pakistan, and H.E. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary Consul in Karachi. Officials from Ethiopian Airlines and Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present to welcome the visitors.

Organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, the visit will feature “Ethio-Pakistan Green Dialogues” and large-scale tree plantation drives, reflecting Ethiopia’s commitment to environmental diplomacy under Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s Green Legacy Initiative.

Speaking at the airport, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker said the visit demonstrates the deepening friendship between Ethiopia and Pakistan and sends a strong message of international solidarity in the fight against climate change. He reaffirmed Ethiopia’s resolve to strengthen both bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Pakistan.
