Kuwait eases family visit visa rules, drops salary limit and travel restrictions

Kuwait has rolled out sweeping changes to its entry regulations, removing the salary threshold for expatriates who want to bring family members on visit visas.

Col. Abdulaziz Al Kandari from the General Residency Department’s Electronic Services Administration confirmed that the reform eliminates the income requirement that had been in place for years. This means all legal residents, regardless of their earnings, can now invite relatives to visit.

The eligibility scope for visitors has also expanded significantly. Family members up to the fourth degree of relation and in-laws up to the third degree can now be sponsored, offering more opportunities for extended family reunions.

The government has also lifted the long-standing “national carrier” rule. Previously, visitors could only arrive via Kuwait’s flag carrier airline, but Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al Yousuf has approved access via any airline, along with land and sea entry.

Authorities say the updated policy is part of Kuwait’s vision to simplify entry procedures, strengthen family connections, and make the country more accessible to residents’ loved ones.
