Lahore – Punjab’s electric bus service is set to reach more parts of the province, with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announcing that 100 new buses are being loaded at Yantai Port, China, and will set sail Tuesday night.
The latest addition to the fleet will serve Mianwali, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Pakpattan, and Dera Ghazi Khan — districts that previously had little or no access to a structured public transport system.
Maryam Nawaz shared on X that the fare will be just Rs20, while passengers will enjoy modern features such as air-conditioning, free WiFi, and a fully automated ticketing system.
“These buses are eco-friendly and inclusive, with accessibility features for persons with disabilities,” she said, adding that the service is designed to offer safe, comfortable, and secure travel for people across Punjab.
The initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader plan to modernise transport while cutting emissions.
