Abdul Qadir Gillani, son of former PM Yousaf Raza Gillani, loses expensive watch in Barcelona
Barcelona: – Abdul Qadir Gillani, politician and son of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, was deprived of his expensive wristwatch during his visit to Barcelona.
The unfortunate incident occurred while he was sightseeing in the city with his children and host. According to sources, thieves managed to snatch valuable watches from both Gillani and his host.
Gillani stated that his watch was encrusted with gold and diamonds and is currently valued at around €56,000 (approximately PKR 18 million). Speaking to the media, he said:
“I bought this watch when it was much cheaper, and its value has increased significantly over time. But life comes first – we are thankful to God that we are safe. The loss is there, but safety is what matters most.”
Street thefts targeting tourists have reportedly become increasingly common in Barcelona, and this incident highlights that prominent Pakistani figures are not immune to such crimes. Police have been informed, and investigations are underway.
Gillani added that he will be more cautious during future trips abroad and advised fellow Pakistanis not to display valuable items in public places.
