Pakistani actor and television personality Sanam Jung has opened up about the ups and downs of raising children abroad, balancing home responsibilities, and missing her professional life. During an appearance on Good Morning Pakistan, she shared how life has changed since moving to Houston, Texas, with her husband, pilot Abdul Qassam Jafri, and their two daughters.
Sanam and Qassam married in 2016 and initially planned a long-distance arrangement when he moved to the US for work. But after her green card was approved in 2023, she joined him with their first daughter, Alaya. In 2024, the couple welcomed their second daughter, Aliza.
However, with Qassam away for 15 days each month, Sanam often manages the household and childcare alone. “When he’s home, he takes care of the big tasks and groceries. I manage the rest on my own while looking after the kids,” she said.
The former morning show host admitted she misses working on set but cannot commit to a job that takes her away from her children. “I do social media endorsements when I can, but I prefer to do them when my husband is around so I’m not leaving the kids alone,” she explained.
Sanam also highlighted the absence of domestic help as one of the biggest adjustments after moving abroad. “In Pakistan, I never realised how much easier life was with household help. Here, you have to do everything yourself, even the smallest chores,” she noted.
Still, she remains thankful for the time she spends with her children. “I may not be working right now, but I’m doing the most important job — being there for my kids,” she said.
