Galaxy Z Flip 7 survives tough durability test with no major damage

Samsung’s latest foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, has been put through a rigorous durability test—and it’s come out surprisingly strong.

The popular tech YouTube channel JerryRigEverything recently tested the device, examining its resistance to scratches, dust, and extreme bending. Despite being one of Samsung’s slimmest foldables yet, the Z Flip 7 held its own against every challenge.

Scratch Performance

The outer shell and back glass, made with Gorilla Glass Victus 2, performed well during scratch testing. Marks appeared at Mohs level 6, with deeper scratches at level 7—typical for modern flagships.

As expected, the inner folding display remains delicate, scratching easily at levels 2–3, similar to other foldable devices. Even fingernails can damage the inner screen surface, reminding users to handle it with care.

Dust & Water Protection

The phone carries an IP48 rating, which provides water resistance and guards against larger dust particles. In the test, some fine dust particles entered the hinge, causing a faint grinding sound—but the device continued operating normally.

Sturdy Under Pressure

Most notably, the Z Flip 7 passed the bend test. Even with force applied in reverse, the hinge didn’t snap or warp, confirming that Samsung’s engineering improvements have paid off.

While foldables still require gentler handling than traditional smartphones, the Z Flip 7 shows real progress in durability—making it a stronger contender in the foldable market.
